Alessandro Facchini wins the 2011 Paul Bernays Award

The 2011 Paul Bernays Award is delivered by the Swiss Society for Logic and Philosophy of Science and sponsored by the Swiss Academy of Sciences. It awards a young researcher for an outstanding contribution in the area of logic and philosophy of science. Alessandro won the price with his dissertation: “A study on the expressive power of some fragments of the modal ?-calculus”. KION Thesis Award Anne Schuth

ILPS-member Anne Schuth is the 2010-2011 winner of the KION Thesis Award. The award is a national prize awarded annually by the joint Artificial Intelligence degree programmes in the Netherlands (KION: Kunstmatige Intelligentie-Opleidingen in Nederland) for the best thesis in the field of artificial intelligence.

Anne’s award-winning thesis is entitled “Tuning Methods in Statistical Machine Translation”. His thesis work was supervised by Christof Monz. Anne will present his work at BNAIC 2011, on November 4. See http://allserv.kahosl.be/bnaic2011/kion
