Web Information Processing
Web Information Processing is a track within the MSc Artificial Intelligence program.
Master of the web? We are looking for students interested in how search engines work, in how the next generation of search engines can be developed and in creating new methods aimed at making information more accessible. You want to learn how to develop and improve algorithms in terms of effectiveness and efficiency.
You like Big Data and you are able to maintain an overview even when you have to deal with huge amounts of information. You love to combine theory, experiment and application, and are keen to explore and address the search challenges created by social media (blogs, email, wikis, social networking) and by other web-based forms of information sharing. Coding is not an obstacle for you and you’re not afraid of statistical methods.

In this Master´s track you will reflect on current research topics such as search for entities, multilingual search, predicting human behaviour by analyzing social media, computational advertising, text analytics on a big scale and the ‘internet of things’. The emphasis of this Master’s track is on technical solutions for one of the most pressing issues faced by today’s information society.
The Master´s track Web Information Processing offers you a programme taught by leading researchers in the field and aimed at familiarizing students with cutting-edge technologies that drive tomorrow’s web. The programme is unique in the way it combines search engine technology with language technology and semi-structured data.
To enter this Master’s track, knowledge of and experience in programming, statistics, and artificial intelligence is important. Solid basic knowledge of databases, language technology, and data mining would be an advantage.
